In a project begun last Fall, IMEC is serving as the Design-Build general contractor of the conversion of a JoAnn Fabrics Mill into 50 "live-work" artist lofts.
Our team collaborated with the architects and owner to develop a feasible floor plan, and we have full responsibility and single accountability for building and commissioning the project. Unique challenges have included:
- several elevation changes within building
- a subgrade remediation project
- complying with historical requirements
- design of a high-efficiency HVAC heating/cooling system
$50,000 Electric Utility Rebate
IMEC managed the process of securing approximately $50,000 in utility incentive rebates for energy efficiency, which included calculations for energy savings produced by modern mechanical systems and special insulation.
