A tofu manufacturer has engaged IMEC for an enormous production heating system conversion from steam to hot water. The project will cut an astounding 52% in energy costs, reducing annual therm usage from 680,000 to 330,000, while providing heat for the food company’s pasteurizers, milk tanks, cookers, and CIP.
The renovation work commenced in May and will be complete in August 2018.
“This is a breathtaking project,” said IMEC president Joe D’Ambrosio, “It’s a one-of-a-kind scenario to be able to upgrade to entirely new technology, reduce energy costs by more than 50% annually, and pay for it all in one year through energy savings and a capital cost utility rebate. We’re thrilled to be involved.”
